What we do

  1. Post low-cost bail for people who could otherwise not afford it

  2. Return clients to their homes, jobs, and communities, in turn giving them a more equitable case procedure

  3. Upon court appearance and/or case resolution, the bail is returned to the fund to help others in need

On average, 20 people are awaiting trial with bail $2,000 and below with 5 new people daily entering the jail at this level.

The NC Community Bail Fund of Durham has supported hundreds of cases through advocating for unsecured bonds and paying secured bonds.

With the help of our supporters, we have diverted over 50 years of pretrial incarceration in 2020 alone by posting over $300,000 in secured bond.

Bail reform and supporting individuals through the criminal justice system is a community-wide effort. To continue the work, please consider donating on a monthly or one-time basis.
